Burdwan, October 12, 2021: Durga Puja was celebrated with great pomp and enthusiasm by the Shovabazar Sarbojanin club committee of the Burdwan district. The celebration ran for five days from 7th October to 11th October. The organizers informed us that the preparation for the puja started two months from before it was to be celebrated. It was the Platinum Jubilee celebration year for this club. The pandal was constructed on the theme of the tradition and culture of Bengal with the help of famous artists of Kolkata. The pooja was inaugurated by the famous Bengali actor Dev. The pandal and streets were beautifully decorated with flowers, leaves, and bright lights during this festival. People of all age groups kids, youngsters, men, women as well as old aged people visited the pooja pandal. On an average around fifteen thousand people visited the pandal every day. The main highlight of this puja was the cultural program at night. Great enthusiasm was generated among the public when the names of Kumar Sanu, Arijit Singh, and Iman Chakraborty expected to take part in the function were announced. The puja committee won a lot of prizes at the district level. Clothes were distributed among the poor people of the locality.
Smt. Sampa Banerjee, the secretary of this puja committee, informed us that the entire celebration created much enthusiasm among the local people.
