My dear friend,
I hope my letter finds you in good health. I am writing this letter to tell you about a rainy day that I have experienced.
It was the last day of the month of June. I woke up early in the morning and found the sky was covered with dark clouds. At first, it was drizzling. Then after 7 o’clock, it began to rain cats and dogs with thunder and flashes of lightning. It had been raining for two hours. Soon the streets and roads were under deep water. They looked like pools all along.
I could not go to school on that day. I began to float paper boats on the roads in front of my door with some small boys and girls. My mother prepared hotchpotch for lunch. This is a traditional food for every Bengalees on rainy days.
The normal life of the people was disrupted. People were wading through knee-deep water with their clothes tucked up to their thighs and shoes in their hands.
The rain really gave us a lot of relief. It cooled the temperature. It was a funny day for me. The day is still vivid in my mind. I really enjoyed the day and felt very happy.
